'We opted for glass panels. Traditional glass covering is beautiful, durable, easy to maintain and versatile because glass can be cut in any shape and size, but it is also heavy therefore solid foundations had to be laid. After that , the frames and original iron castings were put up. The old timber structure was sound, apart from minor damage which was repaired by a local carpenter. The original iron mechanisms operating the roof and the windows were fitted, and worked perfectly. Good drainage for the site was ensured by raising the ground level inside the glasshouse. Three coats of white paint completed the work'.
This superb Victorian timber greenhouse was brought back to life and ready to be enjoyed again. Beautiful and spacious, measuring 6 x 3 meters, it provides all the space needed for gardening as well as being a great place to entertain friends in the garden all year around.
